Upgrading Adobe for macOS

The College of Architecture is updating our current Adobe Creative Cloud license on Windows, to a new, centralized one. This change will add some new functionality to Adobe Creative Cloud on Windows that may not have been accessible before, including:

  • Self-Service installs and updates for the Adobe Suite of applications.

  • An Adobe account linked to your NetID.

  • Adobe licenses linked to your NetID, allowing simultaneous login on up to (2) computers.

You will receive an email from Adobe stating you now have access to the Adobe suite of applications. Nothing needs to be done with this email, it just means that we have added you to our system.

Upgrading

Step 1:

Utilize Spotlight Search on your Mac device (⌘ + Spacebar) to search for the Jamf Software Center. Alternatively, you can search your current installed Applications via the Finder window or by using the Launchpad Feature to view your apps.

Within the JAmf Software Center, you will notice an app available to you labeled “Creative Cloud Installer”. Clicking the “Install [version number]” will install the Creative Cloud application to your computer.

Once the status reports that Creative Cloud has finished installing, which should only take a few minutes, you can utilize Spotlight Search again to launch the application. By default, the new Creative Cloud client is installed in your Applications folder, but resides within the Utilities folder in a folder Adobe creates to house all the necessary support files.

Once Creative Cloud launches, log into it with your NetID@tamu.edu email address. Note: the new license is not tied to the Architecture email account, it will not work if you use your @arch.tam.edu email address. It will continue with the login process, having you input your password and approving a Duo security check.

It may ask you whether you would like to select a “Personal Account” or “Company or School Account”. Select the “Company or School Account” as this is the option the new license is tied to.

Once loaded, you should now have access to the entirety of the Adobe product line and can install the apps you may need!

Note: If you can not find the Jamf Software Center on your Mac device, please email helpdesk@arch.tamu.edu and alert us! We will arrange a time with you to install the software that will install the COA App Store and provide access to the available College software.
