What is Camtasia?
Camtasia is a screen recording and video editing software. Available for Mac and Windows, Camtasia allows the user to easily produce high-quality videos that can be shared with anyone!
Where to get Camtasia
Tamu members can purchase Camtasia for $25 at the IT Software Center which you can access in the link below:

Getting Started with Camtasia
Launch Camtasia to open the TechSmith menu
Click New Recording to open the following recording options:
A. Recording Area - Used to determine the area that will be recorded.
To change the size of the area, click the up and down arrows located on the right side of the setting. Then from the drop-down, choose from recommended sizes or Choose Region… to customize a specific size.
Please note Camtasia will only record what is inside the recording area.
B. Camera - Use the camera feature to film just yourself or create a visual commentary to your screen recording.
C. Microphone - Create a narration at any time by using the microphone during the recording or after by creating a voice-over.
D. System Audio - Records the internal audio including system sounds and sounds produced by applications like videos, music, video games, etc.
Screen Recording
To start a new recording:
Open the TechSmith menu and click New Recording.
Review the options in the TechSmith Camtasia Recording pop-up and make adjustments* as needed.
*Review the Getting Started with Camtasia section to learn about the different recording options.
3. When you’re ready, click Start Recording.
Finish Recording (Windows)
When you’re finished recording, click the Camtasia recorder icon in the taskbar, then the stop button. If you need to re-record, choose “Delete” to start over.
Quick Tip: Press “F10” to stop a recording, or “F9” to pause/resume a recording.
Finish Recording (Mac)
To finish the recording, click the Camtasia icon in the Apple menu bar, then click “Stop Recording.” Or, if you need to re-record, choose “Start Over.”
Quick Tip: Press “CMD+OPTION+2” to stop a recording, or “CMD+SHIFT+2” to pause/resume a recording.
Export & Share
When you’re ready to export or share your video, click the “Export” button in the upper right corner of the editor, then select a destination.
