How to Migrate an iPad

Summary

This article serves to provide guidance to customers situated on remote TAMU Campuses who seek to update their iPads in order to migrate them into the new unified Jamf tenant run by Technology Services. To receive this updated software, the iPads must undergo a factory reset, which entails the complete erasure of all data contained therein. Fortunately, the majority of the data utilized on iPads is routinely updated to the cloud via the specific app employed or via iCloud. Once you have provided assurance that all data is backed up, you may proceed to execute the update by following the instructions detailed below.

If you run into any trouble or have any questions, please get in touch with our office.

It is imperative to ensure that no locally stored data on the iPad is at risk of being lost during the process. To locate locally saved files, navigate to the Files app on the iPad.

A comprehensive guide regarding this can be found here in the official documentation : Find files on your iPhone or iPad in the Files app - Apple Support

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Open the iPad, and go to Settings.
