Access your Files as a Staff or Faculty Member

From a Mac Computer

COA ITS organizes personnel's files based on if the individual is considered a staff member or a faculty member. The following shows how to access personnel files for both roles.

Please note the files stored in Filer are created mainly for personnel with Windows Workstations. If you have any questions or concerns please email COA ITS at helpdesk@arch.tamu.edu

1. To access your personal files, first, connect to filer.arch.tamu.edu and then choose Staff or Faculty.

2. Locate and click the folder that matches your NetID.

Please note: You are the only individual who can access your documents. While you can see folders with other individual’s NetIDs, you will only be able to access your NetID’s folder.

Great job!

Adding Your Folder to your Favorites

1. To quickly access your files, return to the Connect to Server pop-up located in the Go dropdown from the menu bar (read refresher on connecting to server).

2. Type one of the following addresses based on your role:

To access personnel files for staff members: smb://filer.arch.tamu.edu/staff/*NetID*

To access personnel files for faculty members: smb://filer.arch.tamu.edu/faculty/*NetID*

Please remember to replace *NetID* with your NetID.

3. After typing in the address and before clicking Connect, click the plus+” sign to add the address to your favorites. Now, you can access your files from the Connect to Server pop-up without having to type in the address every time.
