Email
Overview
An email account is provided to all students and employees at Texas A&M. In the College of Architecture, employees actually have two different mailboxes you can use: the TAMU Gmail account that is available to all students and faculty, and a Microsoft Exchange account that is provisioned automatically for all employees of the college. You can choose to use only one, or both of these mailboxes. This page explains how these services work together to provide email services for TAMU employees.
Understanding Gmail vs. Exchange
You may wonder why there are two different email services available. The short version is that the university as a whole uses Gmail to provide email to students, and allows employees to claim a TAMU Google account as well. The Exchange account is created for all employees, no matter what. This is considered the official TAMU email and is used for business purposes (like HR and payroll notices).
If you claim a TAMU Google account, you need to be careful that you don't accidentally miss email sent to you by others to your Exchange account. Please read this document to fully understand how these two different mailboxes interact with your two available email aliases, and what you need to do to ensure you get all your messages
